Active in community affairs, he has served as Hampshire County Commissioner, a City Councilor in Northampton, a member of the Board of Public Works, President of the Rotary Club and President of the Greater Northampton Chamber of Commerce to mention a few.

He and his wife, Denise live in Northampton. They have three daughters.

Mark Carmien

Mark enjoyed a successful career as the owner of the Pride & Joy, a retail shop in downtown Northampton, before joining Goggins Real Estate in 2008.

He’s lived in Northampton since 1986 and is very active in the community.

Shauneen Kocot

Shauneen Kocot knows Northampton.  She was born and raised in this city.  After graduating from the former St. Michael’s High School, Shauneen chose to travel and live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  When she returned to Massachusetts, she made her way to Boston where she met and married Peter Kocot, a Florence native.  Her sons, Jake and Luke were born while she and Peter were living in the Boston area.  In 1993, when it was time to buy a home, Northampton was the choice for the Kocot family.  Jake is now a sophomore at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and Luke is a senior at Northampton High School

Shauneen has maintained relationships and a direct connection to Northampton through the years.  She is on the Board of Directors of the Hospice at the Fisher Home and the St. Michael’s Alumni Association and a member of the YMCA.  She is a past board member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Hampshire County and Volunteers in Northampton Schools.

Roisin Quinn was born in Dublin, Ireland and is an identical triplet. She came to Northampton in 1988, and graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Hospitality Management in 2001. Barry Steeves

Hello. I grew up in Kansas, spent a few years ski bumming in Colorado and New Mexico, worked as an urban planner in such far-flung locales as Belfast, Northern Ireland and Washington, D.C., and finally came to ground in Northampton. My wife and I owned and operated the original La Cazuela Restaurant in Northampton for 18 years, then sold it in 2001 to a long time cook. We've happily taken root amidst this collection of endearing communities that each has its own appeal.

An important part of my life is the importance of home. I helped build a few houses in the early years, studied design of housing as an undergraduate and housing policy as a graduate student, designed some renovations and additions for myself and others, and designed our current home from scratch. I care about how a house becomes a home.

Equally important is how a home is a key part of a larger community. My community involvement has included serving on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County and CISA (Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture) as well as committee work for the Downtown Business Association, Northampton Chamber and River Valley Market food cooperative. I currently serve on the Central Business Architecture Committee for Northampton.
